PORTO, Portugal, May 12, 2015 – MSG Lithoglas, manufacturer of wafer-level glass components of high optical quality, has chosen to implement Critical Manufacturing’s MES when extending its production capabilities.
That strategic decision was made despite the fact that the operation could have managed for a time without an advanced MES. Nevertheless the management agreed to implement the system before the new line was running, having in mind the future benefits on quality that may strengthen their position in the competitive niche market.
“The MSG Lithoglas management team fully supported the implementation of an MES system. The only requests were to buy something affordable and something that serve effectively for years,” says Thomas Fischer, Production Manager for MSG Lithoglas. “If you know what you want and describe it clearly and the other side is expert, it works. The system is running well. I’m confident the Critical Manufacturing MES can meet our needs easily for the next 5 to 10 years.”
MSG Lithoglas operates in a niche market, where high quality, low cost and customer information determine the success of every company. Managing production lines by one system was the best option for a facility with limited operation complexity expanding its production capacity.
Within just four months of implementation, MES was set to handle not only production lot tracking and quality assurance, but also consumables and maintenance. Connecting directly to the production machines for data collection, it has become now the primary information system for MSG Lithoglas.
Details on selection and implementation process are available in a new case study now available from IYNO Advisors, titled “Modern MES to strengthen quality in thriving production. MSG Lithoglas road to volume growth.”
