Critical Manufacturing sees Q3 orders soar over 100% amidst the pandemic

October 15, PORTO, Portugal – Critical Manufacturing, leading provider of modern Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) designed to enable the advantages for smart factories of the future, has reported a huge growth in orders in Q3 2020. Up by over 100% quarter on quarter and over 33% year to date, compared with the previous year, it believes this increase is being driven by a need to address the weaknesses in resilience and flexibility exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We saw hesitation in the second quarter as companies came to terms with the impact of the pandemic, but the rise we have seen in Q3 orders has been astonishing. We believe the pandemic has highlighted challenges that manufacturers were not prepared for and they are turning to digitalization and automation for a solution to respond better in the market, and speed recovery when the crisis passes.”

MES and automation systems are the cornerstones of digitalization and the backbone of an Industry 4.0 manufacturing model. Real-time visibility and tight process control are becoming even more important as process lines become more dynamic and highly agile. The need for agility and resilience was brought into sharp focus when the pandemic hit, with companies needing to respond to supply chain delays, shifts in demand and managing their operations with a shortage of workers.

Critical Manufacturing is proficient at efficiently managing projects remotely, something which has been invaluable during lockdowns and with severe travel restrictions. Its experience in managing distributed teams and agile methodologies, heavily supported by cloud-based collaboration tools, ensures it can work in close partnership with its customers, wherever they are.

Francisco continued: “The pandemic has not affected our ability to implement and deploy our solution and the reason why we can manage projects remotely has to do with both the project methodology and organization, and with the MES product itself. At Critical Manufacturing, we have been preparing for this scenario since March. On the one hand reinforcing our already recognized ability to manage and develop the entire project lifecycle remotely; on the other, strengthening our teams and our partnership processes with some of the largest systems integrators worldwide.”

The high volume of orders received by Critical Manufacturing have come from several different industry sectors, led by high-tech manufacturing, including semiconductors, electronics, and medical devices.

“The remarkable growth in orders we are seeing, we believe, is proof that manufacturers are accelerating their digitalization projects, especially across high-tech manufacturing industries. We knew we were on a pathway to the 4th Industrial Revolution, but we may now just get there faster than anticipated. I think that this distinct move to future-ready technology may open the floodgates for others to follow…or they will get left behind in its wake.”
