MES & Industry 4.0 Summit

From Connectivity to Actionable Intelligence

By João Roque, Architect & Advocate | Automation & Connectivity, and Ricardo Magalhães, Architect & Advocate | Data & Analytics, Critical Manufacturing

Highly automated manufacturing environments needs both precise control and intelligent use of data to improve efficiency and quality. This presentation shows a real-world example of how a machine on an SMT line can do more than just process validation—it can also play a key role in a broader Industry 4.0 data strategy. Using the CM Connect IoT Low Code module, we can easily collect data directly from the machine with little development effort. When combined with the Critical Manufacturing Data Platform, this setup enables strong data collection, processing, and analysis—turning raw machine data into meaningful insights. We will cover the full journey: from capturing real-time data to building models and creating dashboards. These dashboards range from simple KPI trackers to advanced visual tools. This gives operations teams better visibility, supports faster decisions, and drives continuous improvement in SMT operations.

This presentation was featured at the MES & Industry 4.0 International Summit, held on June 12-13, 2025 in Porto, Portugal.
