Enterprise Data Platform & UNS: Powering Multi-Site Analytics with a Canonical Data Model

By Ricardo Magalhães, Architect & Advocate | Data & Analytics, Critical Manufacturing

Does your factory have multiple MES and other shopfloor applications deployed? How do you manage achieving unified reporting and consistent KPI tracking? Difficult right? Too many data silos, incompatible data structures…

This presentation introduces a Canonical Data Model (CDM) designed to standardize MES transactional data, such as production, downtime, and quality events, into a common format, enabling centralized analytics across heterogeneous MES platforms.

We will also demonstrate how the CDM integrates seamlessly with Unified Namespace (UNS), allowing real-time data publication and decoupled access for downstream systems.
As a forward-looking extension, we will hint at how this architecture sets the stage for powerful new ways of interacting with MES data, making access to complex insights more intuitive than ever.

This presentation was featured at the MES & Industry 4.0 International Summit, held on June 12-13, 2025 in Porto, Portugal.
