Founded in 2009 by four highly experienced manufacturing software entrepreneurs, Critical Manufacturing has quickly gained a relevant position in MES market, counting with top performer manufacturers as customers.
The company was founded by Critical Software and a group of individual persons with experience in semiconductor manufacturing.
Incorporation took place in Coimbra, Portugal, in April 2009.
The first version of the MES product was officially released in late 2010. The product was called cmNavigo, as a tribute to the Portuguese navigators.
The product was built specifically for high-tech complex manufacturing operations. In 2011, it was deployed into the first Fortune 500 company in USA.
The analyst community quickly realized the potential of Critical Manufacturing’s MES. In 2012, Gartner recognized it for the first time in their Top 30 MES Systems.
As the number of customers increased, the team quickly expanded. The company hired its 100th employee in 2015.
The advantages of Critical Manufacturing’s MES are further enhanced when deployed into multiple facilities. The first contract for over 30 plants was awarded in 2017.
ASMPT, a leading integrated solutions provider in the Semiconductor and Electronics industries, makes a strategic investment in Critical Manufacturing, which becomes part of a 2B$+ business.
Critical Manufacturing continues its worldwide expansion and acquires SKT MAX, an MES provider from Shenzhen, China, specialized in SMT.
Critical Manufacturing is named a Leader in the 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for MES and a month later scores highest in 3 out of 4 use cases in the 2021 Gartner Critical Capabilities for MES Report.
