I-RAMP³ presents the final results

After 3 years of running, the I-RAMP³ consortium will present the final results of the project at the special event that will take place on the 22nd–23rd of September 2015 at AWL-Techniek BV premises in Harderwijk, the Netherlands.
I-RAMP³ is a European project that aims at creating innovative solutions to improve the competitiveness of the European manufacturing industry. The goal is to shift towards smart manufacturing systems in conventional production by introducing a novel concept for fast, optimized ramp-up and operation of production lines. It will allow significant reduction of time and efforts spent during the setup and re-configuration of production plants, which in turn will increase the efficiency of manufacturing, reducing production costs.

The project is funded under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7), EU’s main instrument for funding research in Europe. Critical Manufacturing participates in I-RAMP³ together with 11 other participants from 6 European member states as a provider of state-of-the-art manufacturing execution system (MES) that will enhance fast ramp-up and flexible production in existing industrial settings.
The project contributes to the transition of the European manufacturing industry - especially SMEs - into a knowledge-based business. Integration of specific know-how into machines and devices generates an added value and allows this sector reaching a competitive advantage.
I-RAMP³ brings forward a plan to shift from standard production equipment into Network-enabled Devices (NETDEVs) that are able to adopt themselves to varying production setup and production conditions by negotiating with each other on optimal configuration. NETDEV-based manufacturing also allows for easy integration of sensors and sensor grids. This change enables fast adaptation of the entire manufacturing system to unstable customer demands.
